This paper describes a design of mixed-active quenching circuit for single-photon avalanche diodes. All parameters of quenching circuit are controlled by microcomputer. The avalanche pulse charge is minimized by means of a mixed passive-active quenching approach, thus reducing self-heating and afterpulsing effect.
