Originální abstrakt

The paper deals with a high-temperature device with electric arc. The device was designed especially for experi-ments with thermal decomposition of stable environmentally harmful substances. The paper presents experimentally obtained data of arc currents, voltage drops, power losses of the arc heater and reaction chambers etc. The measured data are used for approximate computation of mean tem-peratures and velocities of the medium in significant cross-sections of the device. Parameters important for the design and operation are evaluated, given in numerous figures and commented. The device has been used also for educational purposes in the optional course Electric Arc Applications in the Master's study program specialized in Power Electrical Engineering
