Differences between series kinematics and parallel kinematics of machine tools are described in this contribution as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Possible ways and methods of application in various industrial branches are also discussed. The authors' statement about application in the particular industrial branches is supported by calculations performed by means of the finite element method. The future of this machine type is outlined in the conclusion of the article.
