Technological tests are an integral part of production preparation in every industry when starting production. Nowadays, the technological tests in foundry practice are also important in terms of validation and verification of computer simulations, so that the calculated results correspond to the reality. The main factors in the foundry that we observe and denote by the term castability are the fluidity, contraction, shrinkage, oxidation rate, cracks and substitution. The evaluation of castability should also be seen in terms of melting, slag formation, and element burns. Whether castability is good or bad, there is no rule or scale for it to evaluate, for example, by assigning points and then evaluating, because it is often a subjective assessment. In general, duplex austenitic-ferritic stainless steels have good castability. However, this can be for individual steel grades and it can be expected that castability will deteriorate with higher alloying contents. This paper deals with the technological properties of austenitic and austenitic-ferritic duplex steel.
