The paper deals with physics teaching for students of electrical engineering and communication under two general constraints – shortening of the university studies for BSc degree and a massive implementation of information technologies in teaching. These changes present a number of serious challenges, to be mastered in the near future by staff and students alike. Within the framework of the paper presented, three topics will be dealt with. The first issue is the substantial reduction of the time assigned to physics with the amount of the material included in the course remaining almost the same as before. The second issue is the presentation of lectures in relation to the advance of information technologies and, in particular, the spread of internet. The third issue is the preparation of students for the exam, under the conditions of information technologies being available everywhere, and the associated impact on the structure of students’ knowledge and experience. Some possible approaches to tackle the arising problems are discussed.
