Passive optical networks are widely used as a promising solution for future access networks. On the other hand, there are cases when the rogue ONU does not follow instructions provided by the optical line termination, for example, if an attacker modifies a firmware of the end unit and/or when the control protocol is not loaded properly inside ONU. In worth case, the ONU transmits data in continual mode. The standard defines finding of the rogue ONU but it does not specify how the rogue ONU should be allocated because the frames of the rogue ONU do not contain the proper parameters. We realized a measurement in a real network with the rogue ONU and then we analysed the captured data. A new algorithm for the rogue ONU allocation is presented. We do not consider any modification of the transmission convergence layer in GPON.

Český abstrakt

Pasivní optické sítě jsou široce používány jako perspektivní řešení pro budoucí přístupové sítě. Existují případy, kdy rogue ONU nedodržuje pokyny od OLT, například kdy útočník upraví firmware ONU jednotky nebo když řídicí protokol není správně nahrán uvnitř ONU. V nejhorším případě ONU přenáší data v kontinuálním režimu. Standard definuje zjištění Rogue ONU, ale neurčuje, jak by měly být lokalizovány rogue ONU, protože rámce rogue ONU neobsahují správné parametry. Měřením v reálné síti s rogue ONU jsme získali data. Nový algoritmus pro alokaci rogue ONU je prezentována. Jakékoliv modifikace přenosové vrstvy konvergence v GPON nejsou brány v potaz (nejsou nutné)
