This paper describes Broadband Power-Line (BPL) technology in the smart grid area. Experimental measurements have been made that meet the communication requirements of smart grid applications. The measurements were performed according to standardised methodologies (RFC). The main goal was to verify suitability and potential for enhanced BPL channel utilization. This is an unused option for possible features which work independently of data collection from smart meters and power quality data acquisition.
