The chemical processes initiated by electrical discharges in gaseous mixtures relating the planetary atmospheres are currently a hot topic in the field of space life searching. The current research focusses on the synthesis of high molecular weight species (tholines) formed by atmospheric pressure glow discharge in nitrogen-methane mixture at the liquid nitrogen temperature. These conditions are close to the Titan low altitude atmosphere. The in situ proton transfer reaction time of flight mass spectrometry (PTR-TOF) was used for the discharge exhaust gas analysis in the flowing regime.
