The objective of the paper consists of the approximate description of radiation transfer in electric arc plasma. The first order of the method of spherical harmonics (P1-approximation) has been used as the way to solve the equation of radiation transfer. Calculation has been performed for plasmas of SF6 (sulphur hexafluoride), PTFE (Teflon) and their various mixtures at the plasma temperatures in the range of 300 – 35 000 K and pressure from 0.5 to 5 MPa. Main radiation quantities, namely radiation flux density and its divergence, has been determined in cylindrical arc plasmas for a model temperature profile. To simplify the calculation, the complicated frequency dependence of absorption coefficients has been handled by means of Planck and Rosseland averaging methods.
