The paper deals with software implementation of logic-intensive control algorithms in a form of look-up table cascades. Provided that logic control is described by multiple-output Boolean function, control output evaluation then reduces to several table look-ups. Depending on a required speed, one or more variables are used for the look-ups in a single step, and the size of tables varies accordingly. Trade-offs between performance and memory footprint are thus possible. Changes in logic control can be implemented rapidly by reloading data into look-up tables. The presented method is thus useful for logic control embedded in microcontroller software.
