Období řešení: 01.01.2003 — 31.12.2004

O projektu

The aim of the project is to improve Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) method. EIT will use the finite element based method for the reconstruction of two-dimensional and three-dimensional admittance distributions in both industrial processes and in biological tissue. Existing two-dimensional program MEP, based on the Finite Element Method, will be used for the solution of the forward problem. This program, developed by the authors of the project, has plenty of original contributions for evaluation of static, harmonic, and transient electric fields in dissipative media. The program will be upgraded for the solution of 3-D problems. Different smoothness operators will be involved into the objective functions to assure finding acceptable minima. The process is known as smoothness-constrained inversion. An attempt will be done to develop new smoothness operators for indication of thin conductive and dielectric layers. Our goal is to improve the quality of the images and the numerical complexity of the reconstruction method. In order to reduce the computational load, we adopt a linearized approximation to the forward problem that describes the relationship between the unknown conductivity and the measurements.
