Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The graduate achieves the aim in the region of physics concerning civil engineering, namely in heat transfer, radiation, photometry and acoustic. He acquires the application possibilities in civil engineering and tendency in the measurement techniques too.
Mode of delivery:
20 % face-to-face, 80 % distance learning
Prerequisites:
The basic of vector calculus, function of one and more variable, derivative and partial derivative of the function, extreme and shape of the function, differential, the indefinite and definite integral, gradient, differential equations, Fourier series, mass, matter, field, the physical quantities, the basic of mechanics, hydromechanics, harmonic oscillations, waves, thermodynamics, the system properties, source and transport of heat, radiation of the black body, photometry and illumination.

Course contents (annotation):
Thermal Physics (heat transmission, heat conduction, thermal properties of the solid materials, heat crossing)
Radiation (physical quantities, radiation’s laws)
Photometry (radiation of the point, surface and linear sources)
Building Acoustic (acoustic field, wave equation, acoustic levels, sound spectrums, sound analyses and sound transmission)
Physiological acoustic (area of hearing, loudness and loudness level, sound influences to human)
Acoustic of the interiors (statistic method, reverberation, acoustic modifications of the interiors)
Measuring of the acoustic quantities (acoustic instruments and methods)

Course curriculum:
1. Thermal Physics: Types of the heat transmission. Physical quantities of heat transmission. Fourier’s law and differential equation for heat conduction.
2. Thermal properties of the solid materials. Heat conduction through the plane and cylindrical wall.
3. Heat transfer. Heat transmission in the air layers.
4. Radiation and Photometry: Physical quantities of the heat radiation. Radiation’s laws of the black body. Correction for real body.
5. Light and photometry. Illumination by the point source.
6. Illumination by the surface and linear source.
7. Building Acoustic: Quantities of the acoustic field.
8. Wave equation for the velocity potential.
9. Acoustic field of the plane and spherical waves.
10. Acoustic levels. Sound spectrums and sound analyses. Sound transmission in the free space and influence of the environment.
11. Physiological acoustic. Area of hearing. Loudness and Loudness level. Sound influences to human.
12. Acoustic of the interiors. Statistic acoustic method.
13. Reverberation and time of reverberation. Acoustic modifications of the enclosed space. Measuring of the acoustic quantities.
14. Acoustic instruments and methods of measuring.
Aims:
The graduate achieves the aim in the region of physics concerning civil engineering, namely in heat transfer, radiation, photometry and acoustic. He acquires the application possibilities in civil engineering and tendency in the measurement techniques too.
