  1. Assessment of the impact of damage to masonry structures on their value

Damage of masonry structures and its impact on the value of the property is a very common phenomenon, occuring in both the real estate valuation considerable age, and in buildings constructed later. A major issue is the consideration of the damage and property valuation in determining the residual life of the building. The thesis will deal with possible damage to masonry structures and the impact of the damage on buildings. Subsequently, an appropriate solution to remedy these disorders will be sought, where the main criterion is the effectiveness of rehabilitation. The effectiveness of remediation must be assessed from the point of view of technological feasibility, efficiency and cost effectiveness. The aim is to qualitatively improve methods for assessing the service limit state of buildings, for predicting the service life of damaged buildings and to improve approaches to the quantification of failure costs of the remediation and assess their effectiveness.

  2. The assessment of defects and failures of a concrete structure with regard to the service life of the structure

The service life of buildings and its component parts depends on the technological implementation according to prescribed procedures and the quality of each material which is integrated in the building. Each material degrades over time, which presents a serious hazard the further durability of the structure. The amount of pores in the concrete structure is an important parameter that affects not only durability, but also the physical and mechanical properties of the cement-based composites and concrete structures in general. The thesis will deal with an analysis of the composition the pore structure of concrete, evaluation of defects and failures, including their prediction using qualitative and quantitative approaches. Identification and assessment the risk of cracking will be made with regard to the durability of the structure.
