Issued topics of Doctoral Study Program

2. round (applications submitted from 24.10.2019 to 09.12.2019)

  1. Costs and effects of innovation in construction

The aim of the thesis is to investigate the costs, profits and other effects of innovations within the construction industry. First, to critically define and specify the area of investigation with the assumption of a higher potential for innovative profit. Accordingly, focus the work on exploring the innovation strategy of the construction company, or focus on innovation within the operational phase of the construction work (facility management), or focus on innovation related to intellectual property for and in the construction industry.

Tutor: Tichá Alena, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  2. Enterprise performance management system in construction industry

Student has to describe modern methods of enterprise performance measurement. The objective of thesis is to design the system of performance measurement in construction company using Key Performance Indicators. The aim of proposed system utilization is to ensure continuous performance improvement in the company.

Tutor: Hanák Tomáš, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  3. Ex-post evaluation of construction tenders as a tool for performance improvement

Cost overruns, time overruns and problems with the quality of delivery are connected with many construction tenders. The aim of this thesis is to desing suitable system of ex-post evaluation of construction tenders, demostrate aplicability of the system on case studies and evaluate its effect on performance improvement achieved on future tenders.

Tutor: Hanák Tomáš, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  4. Management of Risks Related to Pricing in Water Management Companies

The aim of the dissertation thesis is to model water and sewage prices including the tecnoeconomic risks of water management companies. Risks will be identified, evaluated and measures taken to reduce them. Subsequently, the impact of the risks of water management companies on the determination of water and sewage rates will be shown.

    Tutor: Vítková Eva, Ing., Ph.D.

  5. Valuation of Balance Sheet Items and their Influence on the Determination of the Value of Water Management Companies

The aim of the dissertation will be to investigate the change of the value of water management companies given by the valuation of balance sheet items. During the preparation of the dissertation, individual methodological steps for possible valuation of assets and liabilities and their interconnection into the valuation resources will be compiled.

    Tutor: Vítková Eva, Ing., Ph.D.

1. round (applications submitted from 05.06.2019 to 31.07.2019)

  1. Ex-post evaluation of construction tenders as a tool for performance improvement

Cost overruns, time overruns and problems with the quality of delivery are connected with many construction tenders. The aim of this thesis is to desing suitable system of ex-post evaluation of construction tenders, demostrate aplicability of the system on case studies and evaluate its effect on performance improvement.

Tutor: Hanák Tomáš, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  2. Impact of Development Projects on the Development of the Area

The research work will be focused on the research of individual types of development projects (industrial, commercial, service and residential properties, multifunctional buildings, logistics centres, etc.) in the designed area with the aim to determine the methodology for determining their contribution to regional development. The output of the work should answer the research question how to quantify the impacts that the individual types of development projects bring to the territory.

Tutor: Korytárová Jana, prof. Ing., Ph.D.

  3. Modeling of technical-economic information during the life cycle of construction object

Student has to analyse and model the structure and flow of technical-economic information in the context of the construction object life cycle. The aim of the thesis will be the desigh of the system that would enable the availability and continuous updating of data concerning the life cycle of construction objects.

Tutor: Hanák Tomáš, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  4. Optimization of the Process of Evaluation Efficiency and Risks of Large Scale Projects

The topic of doctoral thesis is focused on the economic and risk evaluation of large scale projects in the transport infrastructure. Based on the detailed present state analysis the evaluation of the ways of the projection of partial impacts of these projects into their economic evaluation and the proposal of potential changes or completion will be carried out. Results will be verified on the case study.
