Profile

Study branch Building Structures is due to its complex content divided into four topics: Building Structure, Architecture in Building Structure, Technology and building process control, Building Services. The study is focused on knowledge in building structures and on education to self-scientific work oriented to specific professional areas of particular topic. Deepening of knowledge and abilities in complex and theoretical approach to technical problem solving and justification will be supported during mathematics and physics lectures. Managing theoretical and scientific disciplines which are related to thesis is ensured by passing selected obligatory lectures. Student is solving under guidance of his supervisor given professional problem according to theoretical and experimental requirements and defends results in his thesis. A graduate of PhD program, branch Building Structures is prepared for expected fulfillment of research and development process in selected area of the industry. Due to acquired knowledge he is capable of self-assertion to solve challenging architectural and constructional problems, technology and management of building realization, building services. The continuous active scientific activity is the qualification for possible engagement of graduates as members of the academic staffs at universities.

  4. Bonding technique of Large Format Tiles

    The theme includes participation in the development of technology for the bonding of large-format tiles by means of a thin-layer cement-based adhesive mortar. The application rate is very wide and extremely high in relation to the size of the tile formations where at least one of the dimensions exceeds 1 m. The aim is to draw up a methodology for assessing the technical properties of cement mortar, taking into account the material and the size of the glued cladding element.

  5. Building physical aspects of tubular light guides

    Tubular light guides are continuously improved because of the ever rising requirements put onto thermal comfort in interiors of buildings. This has some side effects, like the depreciation of their physical properties. Therefore it is required to create a comprehensive overview of building physical aspects of tubular light guides, which can be based on experiments and computer simulations. The conclusions then are bound to be incorporated into the concept of a modified tubular light guide.

  6. Construction and technological processes for roofing of buildings according to principles of sustainable construction

    The work is focused on optimizing building processes in the implementation of building roofing projects that have been designed with an environmentally friendly approach and consistent with sustainable development. The optimization of technological processes can reduce the overall environmental impact of the construction on the environment. The work aims to find an optimal organization of work with regard to energy consumption, mechanization and human resources.

  7. Construction joints of prefabricated brick panels

    With regard to the possible use of building blocks in prefabrication in the form of masonry panels, it is necessary to deal with the construction of joints made of prefabricated masonry panels (brick masonry blocks joined by cement mortar, VPC brick blocks connected by cement mortar). A combination of numerical modeling (FEA) supplemented by experimental testing is assumed to be the solution.

  8. Development of rheological models of composite from recycled polymers

    With the possibility of the use of composites from recycled polymers, such as thermal insulation block, there is a need to modify and improve existing rheological models. The development of models is depending on the way stress. The pressure stress is for that group of materials specifically load. Development models will be made on the basis of experimental prototypes monitoring the test samples with subsequent verification of FEA mathematical modeling.

  9. Energy requirements and system efficiencies of technical equipment in buildings

    Requirements for reducing energy consumption in buildings evoke the need to increase the efficiency of technical systems. The study will be focused on the theoretical evaluation of the effectiveness of European standards and guidelines on monitoring existing systems and their components and experimental determination of their efficacy. The expected result will also be the identification of ways to increase the efficiency of modern systems engineering environment.

  11. Ground-coupled Heat systems for Heating and Cooling of Buildings

    PhD thesis focuses on the research use of land for energy for heating and cooling. The scope of work will be theoretical and experimental investigation of the thermal interaction between an building and ground and an optimal design of ground and foundation exchangers. The aim is to streamline obtaining geothermal energy of the elements of foundation structures and to develop a methodology for their design in the Czech Republic.     Building services systems that create the quality of indoor environments in historical buildings, were linked with the optimal design of the building and use natural laws.     The thesis will deal with analysis and subsequent optimization of air-conditioning systems for dilution of solid aerosol concentrations and microbial structure in clean premises of medical buildings.     PhD thesis is focused on the optimization of Thermo Active Building Structures (TABS) used for heating and cooling buildings.   22. Optimizing the design of suitable sealants for problematic substrates

    The content of the thesis is a comparison of the existing standard procedures for the testing of sealants with alternative processes, which correspond to the actual application in real conditions during the sealing of joints. A partial aim is the optimization of the sealing process on a selected problematic substrate, eg the sealing of concrete structures. This theme builds on the already well-developed research of sealants introduced at the workplace using the test preparations developed there.

  24. Pollution of internal and external surfaces in daylighting of buildings

    Daylight factor calculations do incorporate the so called pollution coefficients for exterior, resp. interior side of daylighting system. The values of these coefficients were determined in 1994. Since then these coefficients are unchanged, despite the advances in lifestyle (number of cars on the road, fuel used in heating, etc.). Therefore the aim of the work would be to monitor how the actual lifestyle affects the pollution of surfaces and glazing, and lighting comfort in short and long terms.

    Suitable geological composition of the soil in the basement of the church and unusually ingenious system of air vents allow the natural mummification of the dead, who were buried here. Within a few renovations, the original vents were damaged or submerged. Currently, several mummies damaged by microorganisms. The scope of work is to design measures to correct internal environment and the restoration of the original suitable microclimate.     The topic of this thesis is a temperature-moisture and accumulation assessment of attributes of sloping roofs, which are made from materials with large cubic capacity. Thesis will be focused on use of these roofs in our weather conditions, the impact of different types of roofings, variations of thermal insulations and their effect on indoor enviroment. Theoretical calculation models will be verified by computational programs and experimental measurements performed on real construction.

    Current technologies allow waste heat recovery systems in HVAC (heat sewerage, waste heat from the refrigeration and more.)   11. Description of the long-term behavior of thermal insulation block made from recycled composite during long term load

    With the possibility of the use of composites from recycled polymers, such as thermal insulation block, there is a need to describe their long-term behaviour. Description is also by contingent on the type of loading. Especially the compressive load is for this material specific. Description will be implemented using rheological models that will be derived based on the monitoring of experimental prototypes and will be verified by FEM mathematical modeling.

    The aim is to innovate the cooling circuit of the heat pumps, increasing their efficiency.   23. Optimization of thermally activated building structures

    PhD thesis is focused on the optimization of Thermo Active Building Structures (TABS) used for heating and cooling buildings. Assumes the use of simulation methods, laboratory experiment and measurement INSITU. The aim is to provide recommendations for optimal design and control of TABS. The simulations can use the softwares CalA, TRNSYS, ANSYS Fluent.

  26. Properties and utilization of materials for solar heat storage tank

    The efficiency and utility features solar heat storage tank are bound to used heat-storage materials and method of use of the internal energy. Temperature determines the rate of working fluid losses. The object of study are suitable materials for the construction of a solar heat storage tank (sensible heat, phase change materials), their physical properties. The objective is to model, as well as experimental evidence functionality.

    Thermal energy storage is important for overcoming of mismatch between renewable energy supply and energy use. Thesis will be focused on the development of latent heat storage for use in building structures and technical systems.   30. Research of elements and systems of buildings services

    Research of elements and systems of buildings services as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) will be conducted in order to achieve a thermal comfort in buildings at the minimum operating energy consumption. HVAC systems research will focus on optimizing of their design and operation with the use of low-potential thermal energy sources. The research will be conducted in its theoretical part by development of new mathematical-physical models, and by laboratory experiments and in situ measurements in an experimental part by using PIV method.

Theme includes validation of design methods installation thermal insulation in buildings.
