Development Planning of the City and Region

The subject covers professional preparation of future graduates from the master degree study, as the final theoretical grounding in urban and regional planning. The theoretical principles of urban and regional planning relate to both the land use planning process and the specific functional, operational, spatial, structural and conceptual problems of urban development. Urban planning has an inter-disciplinary character and is connected with environmental protection, transport, economy and other important factors affecting the development of the city and its area. Students are made acquainted with the basic problems of regional planning which gains in significance, especially in connection with the Czech republic's joining the EU.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Theoretical knowledge of the context, mechanisms and trends observed in urban development,and reflected in urban development concepts.

Prerequisites

Professional orientation in problems of urban design, urban planning and development. Basic knowledge of the main problems of contemporary cities.

In the framework of the master degree examination in Planning urban development (including the contents of the subject Urban planning V - land planning).

Natural frame cities.
Present - day structure settlement, regional and agglomerative terms in territory.
