Technical Installations in Buildings I

The subject "Technical installation in buildings" (hereinafter TZB) synthesises a series of technical disciplines. Classes and seminars are focussed primarily on conceptual problems and on the linkage of technical installations to the building as a whole. Emphasis is put especially on interior fittings, the knowledge of which is essential for the future architect's successful co-operation with specialists. The classes in Part I TIB include water, gas and power supply of buildings, waste management, sewers and waste water disposal, with view to environment . The aim is to provide the students with a comprehensive knowledge of technical installations in buildings, which make an integral part of public, residential, industrial and agricultural buildings, and may be applied with creativity in architectural design.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

After successfully passing the subject "Utility facilities in buildings", the student will have a synoptic idea of the proportion of utility facilities in buildings, in particular as regards sanitary facilities and electrical equipment. He will be able to make use of the gained knowledge in the architectural and interior design of buildings.

Prerequisites

The student is expected to know the basics of typology, in particular of the sanitary rooms of buildings, the basics of building design, and to be able to make simplified drawings of incorporation of utility facilities into buildings.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Being granted credit is conditioned by correction in two prescribed terms (in the course of semestral teaching), by at least a 70 % attendance at tutorials, submission of design in the required term, extent and quality.
The student can pass the examination after being granted credit. The examination consists of two parts - a theoretical part and a practicle part. In the classification, 60 %is alotted to the theoretical part, 15% to the practical part and 25 % to seminar assignemt and work at turorials.

Outside water supply, water sources, fission waters by purpose using, service lateral, metering taking waters. - house water plumbing. Structural design divorces waters and armour on inner water supply. - pipe material water supply, preparation and divorce warm waters, fire main and water supply in many - storied buildings. - dimensioning inner water supply. House wells. - gas main, sorts heating gas and their characteristics, house gas road junction, interior wiring flow, materials and armour gas conduit. - gas appliances, instrumentation and control flow, supply objects propane, propane- calor gas, divorces conduit and umísťování chambers flow. - conductors. Wiring system in buildings. - candlelight – fundamentals for interior lighting spaces, luminous sources.

Aims

The aim is to gain synoptic view of utility facilities in buildings, primarily sanitary facilities and electrical equipment that make an integral part of public, residential, industrial and agricultural buildings. The knowledge gained can be made use of in studio design and other creative studio work.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Tutorials are continuously monitored, the progress of the semestral work is corrected twice a semester, in the scheduled weeks of teaching. Missed lessons will be made up for in form of an individually assigned substitutive program.
