Art II - Colour
FA-VT2CompulsoryBachelor's (1st cycle)Acad. year: 2010/2011Summer semester1. year of study2 credits
The knowledge of theory of colours is based on principles that give the student the confidence that he is able to work with colours both in the field of displaying and of deliberately determining the colour shade of the objects. The knowledge and the practical skill make it possible to solve the problems of colour in architecture. These are the bases of teaching in the semester, in which the student gets the necessary knowledge and skills needed for his further professional activity. This is an indispensable experience, in contrast to the work with a computer which allows the modification of only four colours, whereas the material on the basis of pigments has a specific behaviour, and is also denoted as a coating composition with which the architect has to reckon and to cope. This orientation facilitates
to make a colour record of both the interior and exterior, and of the objects located therein.
Learning outcomes of the course unit
The student overcomes the obstacle of lacking skill by using the technique of creative art. He or she learns to think about colour combinations, and to use them for obtaining the result. His or her orientation in the plane is boosted to the result's illustration.
Prerequisite of the study is completed secondary education and basic orientation in technical terms. The actual bases of creative art techniques are taught only here. Dispensation is granted to graduates from secondary schools of arts who submit their previous works;they can be exempt from the first part of classes of basics of colouring.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
The resulting collection of works is evaluated and classified as to rendering, completeness, technical mastering and fulfilment of requirements defined in the assignment.
Language of instruction
Hard form - simulated program study according to matter
Abstract space simulated program study
Abstract space – realization in modelling fulfilment – cured polystyrén
Introduction – circular colour scheme and demonstration simultaneous contrast.
Using basic colours – temper paint.
Gain secondary colours mixture colours basic.

Constitution single part to the figure unit, cementation and inking.
Work with tool and colour material, its use for attaining clean colour plane and for portraying objects in space.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Attendance of classes is obligatory. In case of short time absence, missed lessons can be made up for individually. Long term absence is not tolerated, and results in the repetition of the year.
