Knowledge Management

The course follows basic bachelor´s degree courses in the area of management, IT/ICT and managerial decision-making. The course focuses on explaining the basic theoretical concepts related to the management of knowledge and its practical application in the company. The emphasis is on obtaining, using, storing and sharing knowledge. The interpretation is realised gradually. First, it focuses on the description of knowledge management environment outside the organization (knowledge-based economy, knowledge society, learning region) and subsequently within the organization (knowledge organization, learning organization, knowledge strategy, market knowledge, knowledge worker, tools and knowledge management, implementation of knowledge management, knowledge modelling, knowledge management in decision-making process). The course also provides basic information on the integration of knowledge management with other managerial disciplines (project management, risk management, innovation management).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Seminars are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

COMPLETION OF THE COURSE
Requirements for gaining the credit:
Successful completion of the semester projects within the specified deadline.

Examination requirements:
The exam has a written form, using open questions (max. 20 points). Oral examination if necessary. Overall evaluation of the course is based on the results obtained by exam with possible reference to the results obtained during the semester.
The mark, which corresponds to the total sum of points achieved (max. 20 points), consists of:

The aim of the course unit is:
• To provide students with importance of knowledge for company and their management.
• To provide students with the basic conception of knowledge management.
• To provide students with the basic methods and tools of knowledge management.
• To presented the new trends of knowledge management.
• To presented integration of knowledge management with other managerial disciplines.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Checking the results of individual work on assigned tasks. In the case of excused absence, the teacher may set in justified cases a replacement condition, usually working out of a partial task.
