Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire advanced knowledge of selected Unit Operations of Thermal Processes and Diffusion Processes of Chemical Engineering which are used in the design and assessment of individual process nodes in the practice of chemical and other productions on a laboratory scale and in industrial practice. Students will be acquainted with computational methods on specialized SW on which chemical engineering processes are routinely assessed in practice. Students will be acquainted with the current possibilities of sensing and evaluation of process quantities, with the possibility of automatic control and management of chemical engineering processes, as well as with the possibilities of robotization in this area.

Prerequisites

Mathematics - fundamentals of vector, differential and integral calculus; use of EXCEL;
Physics - fundamentals of mechanics, hydrodynamics, thermodynamics and diffusion processes;
Chemical engineering of heat and mass transfer calculations.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught in the form of lectures, computational exercises and PC work with a specialized computer program in the total range of 2 lessons per week. Teaching will be led by academics and practitioners who deal with the issue professionally. LMS Moodle e-learning system is available for teachers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To obtain graded credit is required active participation in exercises, successful solution of assigned credit examples and oral examination of theoretical, numerical and practical knowledge of the field.
For the written part of the exam, the literature designated by the examiner can be used.

Course curriculum

The course is taught in four separate spheres:

Advanced Chemical Engineering operations:
