Technology of Operating with Earthwork Machines

FSI-NT0Acad. year: 2020/2021

The course introduces with the rock properties and classification by the exploitability, with the methods of the soil disintegration and proper usage of the individual earthwork machines according to the earthwork type and extent of the earthwork. The course introduces the operating systems and the control elements of the earthwork machines. This course is obligatory for the students applying for the earthwork machines driving licence.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to the consider earth properties and use suitable machines and technologies for their disintegration and manipulation. They will be also able to the operate and service earthwork machines according to the safety precautions.

Prerequisites

Students are required to have basic knowledge of a physics, machine parts and their mechanism and physics of the materials.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.
Exercises are focused on the practical topics presented in the lectures.
Part of the course can be the excursions to the companies that manufacture or operate the equipments from the thematic area of the education.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The verification of the knowledge acquired in the course: Written exam followed by an oral exam proofreading.

Aims

The aim of this course is introduces with the rock properties and methods of their disintegration, choice of the suitable machine for the making earthworks. Further, the principles of the earthmoving machinery operation according to their operation and service.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

To get a graded course-unit credit students must attend seminars and elaborate assigned tasks.

1. Classification of the rocks according to the workability, technical rock properties.
2. Technological classification of the earthwork machines.
3. Technology of the earthwork machine assemblies.
4. Serial, parallel and combine machine assemblies.
5. Mechanical disintegration of the rocks.
6. Special methods of the rock disintegration.
7. Operating scheme of the loaders, dozers and excavators.
8. Working technology of the loaders and dozers.
9. Working technology of the excavators.
10. Working technology of the multipurpose and finishing machines.
11. Working technology of the graders.
12. Technology of the soil compacting, working technology of the vibratory roller.
13. Inspection of the technical conditions, service and repairs.

1st and 2nd weeks: Earth class determination and technical properties.
3rd and 4th weeks: Design of the technological earthwork machine groups.
5th and 6th weeks: Demonstration of the loader and excavator work technologies.
7th and 8th weeks: Periodic maintenance determination of the engine and chassis.
9th and 10th weeks: Periodic maintenance determination of the hydraulic and brake systems.
11th and 12th weeks: Control and inspection systems of the earthwork machines.
13th week: Demonstration of the work technology of vibratory rollers.
