Measurements and the Investigation of Building Engineering Physics Tasks

ÚSI-ERSTFAcad. year: 2020/2021

Requirements for buildings with regard to thermal protection and low energy consumption, humidity – condensation of water vapour on the surface of a structure and inside; acoustics – evaluation of noise; daylight – sunlight in residential buildings; and basic requirements in the field of building services.

Language of instruction

Czech

Number of ECTS credits

2

Mode of study

Not applicable.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic orientation in issues related to building engineering physics needed for the simple technical description and assessment of building elements, buildings and other structures within real estate activities.

Prerequisites

Basic general knowledge at the level of a bachelor’s degree graduate.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Tuition takes place in the form of seminars. The first part of the seminars provides an explanation of basic principles, the methodology of the given discipline, problems and example solutions. The second part of the seminars mainly promotes the practical mastery of the subject matter presented in the first part of the seminars, or assigned for independent study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded credit – participation in seminars, completion of assigned tasks, credit test based on the content of the whole curriculum.

Course curriculum

1. Building services – heating, ventilation systems, sanitary facilities, electrical equipment – requirements, classification.
2. Thermal engineering – requirements for buildings in terms of thermal insulation and low energy consumption, heat transfer coefficient, the lowest internal surface temperature.
3. Humidity – condensation of water vapour on the surface of the structure, and inside. Elimination of thermal bridges – contactless diagnostics, possible solutions, examples from real-world practice.
4. Acoustics – air and impact sound insulation – requirements, noise assessment.
5. Daylight – daylight factor – requirements, evaluation. Sunlight in residential buildings and recreational areas.
6. Credit
