Proseminar in Physics I
FSI-0FPAcad. year: 2020/2021
Proseminar in physics I complements the lecture General physics I given within the frame of the speciality Physical engineering. Students taking this seminar can practise and acquire basic knowledge of classical physics in suitable form to be able to solve elementary physical- and technical problems. These abilities are necessary to understand fundamentals of many technical branches.
Learning outcomes of the course unit
Systemization of physical units, manipulation with equations containing physical quantities. Knowledge of definitions, laws and their validity conditions in the range of the syllabus. The emphasis is laid on the encouragement of abilities to solve physical and technical problems by virtue of general information obtained from the lecture General physics I.
Knowledge of mathematics and physics taught at secondary schools.
Recommended optional programme components
Recommended or required reading
Halliday, D., Resnick, R., Walker, J.: Fyzika. VUTIUM, Brno 2001.
Feynman, R. P., Leigton, R. B., Sands, M.: Feynmanovy přednášky z fyziky. Fragment 2000.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Students are evaluated on the basis of discussion on topics explained during the course.
Language of instruction
Proseminar in physics I is drawn up to support students’ active approach their study content. Discussed topics are influenced especially by students. The main aim is to actively follow the commentary by means of the intensive collaboration between the teacher and the student.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
For passing out the Proseminar in Physics I the attendance at the courses is obligatory. In the case of excused absence an individual way of compensation can be arranged.
Classification of course in study plans
- Programme B-FIN-P Bachelor's, 1. year of study, winter semester, 2 credits, elective
Type of course unit
26 hours, compulsory
Teacher / Lecturer
The syllabus of the course more or less corresponds with the lecture General physics I. The content of the Proseminar depends on momentary state of students’ knowledge and is continuously adapted to students’ needs.
