Course detail

Mechanisation and Automation

FSI-EMMAcad. year: 2020/2021

The subject provides theoretical and practical explanation of automation elements in the metalworking industry, mainly in the metal forming, machining and welding. It is explained students specializing in the planning of automation equipment, designing the product with automationand the basic components of automation such as different kinds of feeder, selector, loader, unloader and transfer components. These are used in the designing of automation systems in the given technologies. The subject deals with also designing and operation of flexible manufacturing systems, theory of machines and industrial robots including their construction and production lines.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire necessary knowledge of mechanization and automation and handling systems in engineering automation workshops and production control. They will be received the basics and principles of numerical control, industrial robots and NC and CNC machines as well. The obtained knowledge will be applied in the field of the processing all types technological production designs.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of producing mechanization, handling and basic information about machines and equipment in manufacturing technology (mainly in forming, machining and welding technologies).

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The subject is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical substance presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Attendance at lessons is checked. The lecture is different each week, that is why an absence may be compensated for in the same week only. Only one lecture may be missed without penalty. In the case of more missed exercises and the impossibility of replacing the exercise, the substitute protocols and computational work will be assigned.
