The subject provides to students basic knowledge on water treatment. Within the subject students are acquainted with drinking water resources, water intake, drinking water quality as well as standard and basic principles of water treatment, like: mechanical water pre-treatment, homogenisation, flocculation, sedimentation, clarification, slow, rapid and membrane filtration, water disinfection, iron and manganese removal, deacidification of water and water improvement. The students are also acquainted with chemical and sludge management at drinking water treatment plants as well as structural and layout arrangement of drinking water treatment plants.
