Metal Structures II

Principles of the design and structural design of multi-storey buildings. Space rigidity, bracing and reinforcing systems. Load-bearing structures of ceilings and platforms. Columns of multi-storey buildings, base and anchorage of columns.
Sheds and tribunes. Principles of a scheme arrangement and structural design. Problem of a loaded open tribunes and wind-loaded sheds.
Roof structures of a large span. Space-bar structural systems.
Design and structural design of lattice slabs and grid systems.
Suspended and hanged structures. Systems of the scheme arrangement of fibre schemes. Principles of calculation and structural design.
Fabrication and assembly of steel structures. Problem of stiffening, reconstruction and rebuilding of structures with steel bearing system.
Design of steel structures on the base of experiment results. Realization and evaluation of experiments.
Principles of the design and structural design of elements and load-bearing systems from aluminium alloy.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will learn and get under control the aims of matter in
teachings, focused especially to problems of design of metal constructions, multi-story buildins and large span roofings, in term of content amplificated more in detail in the schedule of related training subject.

Course curriculum

1. Development and perspective of using multi-storey building.
2. Structural system of multi-storey buildings with steel and steel-concrete bearing construction.
3. Spatial rigidity, brace and reinforcement systems.
4. Floor and platform bearing systems. Using of castellated beams and design.
5. Steel-concrete floor construction.
6. Multi-storey building columns, footing and column anchorage.
7. Sheds and tribunes. Rules of module configuration and structural design. Wind load problems of open sheds and tribunes.
8. Large-span roofing. Spatial trusses.
9. Structural design of truss plates and grid systems.
10. Suspended and cable-stayed fibre structures. Fibre systems module configuration. Rules of evaluation and structural design.
11. Production and assembly of metal structures.
12. Reinforcing, reconstructing and rebuilding problems of steel framed buildings.
13. Design of metal structures based on experimental results. Tests realization and interpretation. Basic rules of structural design of members, parts and bearing systems made aluminium alloys.
