Course detail

ICT integration using the post-relational database platform

FP-IISAcad. year: 2020/2021

Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject is aimed at understanding of information systems integration with each other, using Caché and Ensemble products from Intersystems. Students will acquire basic knowledge of working with object databases, will understand the work with objects. Using Ensemble, they learn how to create meta-systems that allow multiple systems to connect. During the semester, it solves a comprehensive example that demonstrates integration issues and Ensemble. The lecturers from the Czech branch of the Intersystems company participate in the course.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire knowledge of working with one of the major products in the field of information systems integration, which are mainly used in banking, healthcare and big data processing. Students will be able to work independently with Caché and Ensemble to create an enterprise integration platform, analyze data, and produce business management-friendly outputs.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of data modeling, relational data models and SQL, and the basics of algorithmization are expected.

Co-requisites

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is a combination of presentation of theoretical knowledge and its practical application on examples. In the course of the semester, students elaborate a comprehensive project under the guidance of a teacher, and gradually extend the functionality in such a way that they fix the basic concepts and procedures of the solution by repeating them.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Students are evaluated on the basis of processing a global project. The course is free, offered within all BUT study programs, and is evaluated only by credit for passing the course and submitting a full-term project.
