Studio III - Video - summer
FaVU-B3VI-LAcad. year: 2020/2021
Part of the summer semester of the third year are tasks and challenges associated with advanced forms of the manipulation with moving image. Combined with the experience gained from the previous semester, 3rd year student in video studio, should be able to create complex audio-visual or other artistic work, which already meets all the demands expected it in the context of contemporary art. In addition to managing all formal aspects of the work, the student is guided to a wider knowledge of contemporary visual culture and orientation within the current artistic and social theories. In the summer semester of the third year students should have comprehensively defined idea about their future artistic direction.

Analytical analysis of works and examples from the history of film and visual art related to the subject of study.
Interview in individual and group presentations of student works at studio meetings.

Course curriculum
Communication in media environment. Philosophical and conceptual links of artefact. In media is the message...? (McLuhan). References of classical modernism and interferences to contemporary art - mixed media. Objects, installations, objet trouvé and ready made (M. Duchamp) - realisation of artefact in various materials, legacy of Bauhaus - from Fluxus to multimedia installations (Nam June Paik). Actions (performance) in space, meaning of time limit, processuality (J. Beuys, P. Štembera, J. Surůvka), self-destructive art? - (e.g. J. Tinguely -object/action). Individual orientation and the following specifics of students´ selected programmes - on the basics of the studio assignment. Students are free to suggest an individual alternative solution.
