English for Graduants

Basic vocabulary for individual specializations of chemistry wiith the stress on chemistry and technology of foodstaffs, general, analytic and physical chemistry, laboratory equipment etc. Organic and inorganic nomenclature, verbalization of math expressions., writing of manuals, preparation of specific texts and their oral presentation , how to make a good oral presentation, grammar of specific texts etc.
Individual work with a specific text ( reading, translating, reproduction) with the stress on the chemistry of foodstaffs.
Listening and understanding authentic material oriented on chemistry of foodstaffs and other specializations.

The course uses teaching methods in form of individual consultation. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Understanding and reproduction of technically oriented comprehensive material .

Course curriculum

Getting familiar with the common live surviving conversational topics and their vocabulary according to the needs analysis. Extending listening skills with the concentration to understand authentic matherials. Basic skill for successful performing the oral presentation (preparation, structure, scheduling, non-verbal communication, use of aids, verbalization of charts and tables, keeping contact with the audience, role of voice in the course of a presentation, signposting the presentation, ending presentation, mastering the principal phrazeology of the presentation, etc)
Authentic video samples of well done and bad done presentations.
Procuciton of own professional materials and their presentation. Role of the involved audience, assesing the presentations of other participants.

Aims

Expansion of ESP vocabulary according to individual branches of chemistry. Reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and ESP grammar knowledge are also developed .so that the students will be able to produce and orally present their own professional materials.
