Diploma project - module M3

Studio work is the main and essential method of teaching architecture. It is based on the “learning by doing” method, i.e. acquiring knowledge and skills through practical application. It consist of a dialogue between the teacher and the student about the project in progress. The diploma project should prove the general preparedness of the graduate to enter the profession, the ability to pass the authorization examination at the Czech Chamber of Architects and then potentially lead the architectural freelance studio independently.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

He or she proves the ability to design constructions of any type, as employee of a design office.

Prerequisites

The assignment of the master thesis can be obtained only after completing all other compulsory and compulsory elective courses in the bachelor program “Architecture and Urbanism”.
Creation of dissertation work uses knowledge of all previous theoretical subjects of bachelor´s and graduate studies and experience gained in practice.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Submission of the complete project according to the assignment and FA Rules for Study in time.

Course curriculum

Ve výuce student systematicky připravuje diplomovou práci podle zadání. Práce probíhá 12 týdnů. Jedná se o samostatnou práci, pravidelně konzultovanou s vedoucím a dalšími odborníky.

Aims

The aim of the course is to elaborate a diploma project – architectural-urban study according to the assignment, which thematically corresponds to the module in which the student enrolled at the beginning of his studies in SMEs “Architecture and Urbanism”. The diploma project proves the ability of individual and creative approach to the solution of architectural-urban design.
