Diploma Project - Module M8

Studio work is the main and essential method of teaching architecture. It is based on the “learning by doing” method, i.e. acquiring knowledge and skills through practical application. It consists of a dialogue between the teacher and the student about the project in progress. The diploma project should prove the general preparedness of the graduate to enter the profession, the ability to pass the authorization examination at the Czech Chamber of Architects and then potentially lead the architectural freelance studio independently.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Gaining inispensable fundamental information on the creation of an architectural interior space, which enables basic orientation in the creative artistic disciplines, the role of which is indispensable in architectural composition. The information is presented by an architectural design study and a model study (visualisation, animation), including worked out details (structural details, design details, etc.).

Prerequisites

The assignment of the master thesis can be obtained only after completing all other compulsory and compulsory elective courses in the bachelor program “Architecture and Urbanism”.
Prerequisite for successful mastering of the subject is the completion of the subjects taught in the previous study program, which put emphasis on the logic and hierarchy of information and experience needed in the work of a creative architect.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

In order to complete the course, it is necessary to submit the complete work in time according to the assignment and the Rules for Study at FA.

Course curriculum

The student systematically prepares the master thesis according to the assignment. Work takes 12 weeks. This is an independent work, regularly consulted with the supervisor and other experts.
