Revitalisation and Renovation of Residential Areas

Aim subject is complex familiarization with problems renewal, reconstruction and revitalization seats in conditions sustainable development. Subject is bent especially on terms needs renewal and reconstruction seats and on his procedural aspects. Combination lectures - introductions to the surveyed phenomenon - and instantaneous application gained information in terms of seminars, laies behind aim not only students about problems renewal and reconstruction seats inform, but learn is new acquirements apply practically.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will be able to recognize basic patterns in the development of settlements and their structures.
Student wil be able to analyze wider relationships in the area and identify conflict situations in settlement.
Student will be apprise with the problematics and differences of work in rural and urban environment.
Student will asquire a conceptual approach to the settlement with its broader context.
Student will learn how to designed and realize public spaces.

Prerequisites

Professional orientation in issues of urban design, urban planning and land development. Basic knowledge of the development of the main problems of contemporary cities.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The evaluation is based on processing of assigned tasks. Specification contains written assignment submited at the beginning of the semester. Percentage of each task is the same. Assessment of assignment is 100 %. Assessment is based on meeting attendance and presentations.

Aims

The objective is to make students acquainted with the problems of the renewal and redevelopment of settlements.The subject deals in particular with the circumstances and needs of the redevelopment of settlements, and with its procedural aspects. By combining lectures - introduction to the examined phenomenon - with immediate application of the gained information in the framework of a seminar, the students gain not only information on problems of the renewal and redevelopment of settlements, but also the ability to apply the newly gained skills in practice.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Student is obliged to attend more than 75 % of seminars, elaborate assigned tasks and at least three presentations in seminars.
