FA-DP5Acad. year: 2020/2021

Studio work is the main and essential method of teaching architecture. It is based on the “learning by doing” method, i.e. acquiring knowledge and skills through practical application. It consist of a dialogue between the teacher and the student about the project in progress. The diploma project should prove the general preparedness of the graduate to enter the profession, the ability to pass the authorization examination at the Czech Chamber of Architects and then potentially lead the architectural freelance studio independently.

Course curriculum

The student systematically prepares the master thesis according to the assignment. Work takes 12 weeks. This is an independent work, regularly consulted with the supervisor and other experts.

The aim of this subject is to show in all important views the city problems /or urbanized country/ by individual work on chosen topic in the form of urbanistic composition. Also finding main problems concerning the task by evaluating research, determining priorities for own concept of spatial and functional arrangement, correct adjustment of final solution in graphical and digital form with supportive argumentation for proposal defence, convincing presentation form.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Dissertation project is an individual student’s work, continuous controls are connected with mandatory and active presence during critiques. It is an interest of student to consult his work with project leader, eventually with specialists from the school and external specialists.
