The design of a simple building - residential house (for example with a commercial area), kindergarden or motel, etc. In the studio-based project the knowledge from Building Construction courses and Building Physics are supposed to be applied. A part of the project should contain an architectural design, preliminary design of load-bearing structural system and foundations in given subsoil conditions, design and assessment of building envelopes and general assessment of the designed building with respect of thermal protection, acoustic and daylighting and fire protection requirements.

Course curriculum

1.- 4. Building disposition, design and assessment of structural system
5. – 7. Design of foundations, specification of subsoil conditions, setting of the building into the ground
8.– 10. Assessment of the designed building with respect of the thermal insulation, room acoustics and daylighting
11.-12. Energy balance of the designed buildings
13. Completion of the technical documentation
