Explaining the structuring of scientific paper, paragraphing, quotating and references.
Practise in writing abstracts and short scientific papers.
How to use the vocabulary and phraseology precisely.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The students will be familiar with the process of writing scientific texts in English and will have active command of the frequent phraseology used in English scientific texts.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of general English at the B1 level according to CERF.

Introducing students to the methods of scientific text in English (goals, methods, style), structure and referencing

Brief characteristics of each section of a academic paper, contents and form of the Introduction. 4. Contents and form of the Methods and Materials section. 5. Contents and form of the Results section. 6. Contents and form of the Conclusion section. 7. Contents and form of the Discussion section. 8. Contents and form of the Abstract section. 9. Titles and their types, paragraphing. 10. Common in-text abbreviations, quotations. 11. Consultations regarding seminar papers. 12. Discussion of common mistakes in written texts (Czenglish). 13.
