Research Project and Its Management

The overall aim of this course is to provide students with an introduction to the basic skills, principles and techniques of successful grant writing. Students completing the course will understand the fundamental components of a grant proposal and they will be able to prepare a complete grant proposal to an agency of their choice.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The students will be familiarized with the system of public support for research, development and innovation in the Czech Republic and foreign countries. The output of the course will be a proposal of two projects.

Prerequisites

The basic knowledge of methodologies of scientific work.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Elaboration of two tasks (SMART and SWOT analysis for R&D project) and the writing of two project proposals (basic research project and a project to innovation of the educational activities).

Aims

The aim of the course is a successful project proposal of science and research which is the basis for an evaluation on its support. The course objective is to familiar students with fact that the primary purpose of a proposed research project is coherently and clearly convince the reviewers of the existence of high-quality research project, requisite skills, work plan and corresponding amount of budget for the project.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at lectures is required and controlled - a maximum of two excused absences per semester are tolerated. Missed lessons can be compensated by individual consultations.
