Course detail
Drawing of Product
FSI-YKVAcad. year: 2019/2020
The subject focuses on drawing of an industrial product in a perspective view. Managing this type of drawing is essential for the first phase of the work of an industrial designer. The work proceeds from an elementary sketch depicting the basic structure to the definitive representation of the product model. The correct depiction of reality lies in the reduction of the source object to the basic geometric formations, taking into account the principles of perspective projection. Sketching is a method of expressing thought and the basis for further developing of a visual design.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
The course allows students to develop drawing technique by depicting real industrial products, which is necessary for building the ability to create good design in the field of industrial design by drawing in a free hand in the initial phase of product design.
Prerequisites
The subject follows "Geometric Objects Drawing". The theoretical knowledge of the perspective view (including light and shadow) is assumed as well as the ability to apply them practically when constructing a drawing in plane.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Graded course-unit credit requirements: Attendance at exercises, meeting assigned projects deadlines. Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on tasks (drawings). In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale. According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. Aims
The aim of the course is to develop skills to draw according to a model with the focus on industrial products with gradual increase in difficulty. The aim of the course is to support the ability of both real and schematic visual depiction of objects based on capturing the source object and thus improve the art of drawing.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Compulsory attendance at seminars. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor.
