Artistic Research

FaVU-UV3Acad. year: 2019/2020

Art research focusing on the body and the media based on a collaboration between the students and teachers of the FFA and the Faculty of Social Sciences of Masaryk University in Brno. The seminar is led by two teoreticians and an artist. The theoreticians are: the religionsit (doc. PhDr. David Václavík from FFMU - the Institute of religious studits]. The artist, Lenka Klodová from FaVU, processes topics related to the art projects of the students and to sociology and art theory in a mode which is a hybrid between art and theory.
propojení Favu /především ateliéru s hybridním zaměřením – tělový design, environment, performance, média…/ s příbuznými obory na MU /obor gender a obecně sociologické a filosofické obory na FSS a celé MU/
- v základu seznámit studenty s možností rozvinutí umělecké myšlenky do „art based research“ – uměleckého výzkumu

Learning outcomes of the course unit

- Students from each college will be able to see the subject of their interest through the optics of the partner school
- art students will learn about the possibility of applying a systematic approach to their art. Such an approach is typical for the PhD. level, hence students who will have had experience with this seminar might decide to enter the PhD. program
- the seminar should lead to practical results. Their form will be determined by the topics chosen for processing. (Articles published in Umělec or on www.artalkweb.wordpress.com is one possibility, a regurarly edited website or a hybrid exhibition are other. )
- the seminar should teach students to manage their research/artwork (grants, corret documentation)
- as the issues of the body and the media stand in the centre of attention, the seminar will attemprt ot connecting students with other subjects, museums, NGOs, research subjects, etc.
