Modern Theories of Development and Urban Planning 2

Specialised seminar in which the students should complete and deepen their recent knowledge of contemporary building of cities, improve their orientation in literature (Internet) and gain the ability to work out and defend information on a selected topic. The subject is divided in three thematic blocks; at the beginning of each of them is a pilot lecture on the topic. The blocks are focused on modern development concepts of the city, its parts and estates, and on the views of prominent personalities on the city's formation. Under the leadership of teachers, students work out seminar papers on selected topics (one seminar paper for each thematic block).

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Knowledge of modern urban development theories. Detailed knowledge of the theme to be worked out. Ability to orientate oneself in literature.

Prerequisites

Professional orientation in problems of urban planning, town and country planning and land development. Basic knowledge of the main development problems of contemporary cities.

Gaining professional theoretical knowledge of modern urban development theories.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active attendance of seminars. Working out three information papers, and their presentation at the seminar.
