Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students learn how to design shallow foundations. Students will be able to design deep foundations for different geotechnical categories. They will be able to design safe and economical sheeting and dewatering of foundation pits. They will learn how to design a suitable method for underpinning of objects at reconstruction and modernization. They will be able to choose the optimal technology for soil improvement.

Prerequisites

Types of foundation soils, properties of soils, limit states theory, basic principles of structural mechanics, theory of strength and elasticity, structure design.

Co-requisites

Risks at foundation of objects, risks at implementing of deep foundation pits shoring, new technologies of special foundation methods, environmental geotechnics, computational methods in geotechnical engineering.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The presented topic is practiced on credit examples including the parts individually discussed. Part of the exercise takes place in a classroom PC - application software for the solution of the problem.
Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions of credit is to develope a final credit examples and satysfying attendance.
The exam will consist of written and oral part. Condition of the oral exam is a written test conditions.
