Experimental Methods of Construction Survey

New methods of verifying the reliability of engineer construction proposal. Testing the signs of reliability of ready constructions during lifetime. The reliability scheme of building structure and it’s modeling. Analysis and physical models, laws of model homothety for static and dynamic tasks.
Arrangement of model tests, ways of loading and methods of reading the static and dynamic quantities. Determination of mistakes of the read quantities, metrology.
Non-contact methods of deformation reading, digital analysis of image and it’s treatment. Principles of fraction mechanics. Measurement of parameters for tension determination.
Measurement on realized structures and comparison of results with model measurement. Automation of measurement.
Seminary paper concerns elaborating and evaluating the results of measurement from the laboratory practice. Laboratory practice with individual tasks for individual students.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic knowledge of the methods of experimental analysis of structures and structural elements. The relationship of experimental analysis with numerical modeling of structures. Optimizing physical model for the numerical simulation methods. The basic orientation of the stochastic approach to evaluation of structures. Analytical evaluation of the results of experimental and numerical analysis for critical evaluation of the reliability of the outputs of numerical modeling.

Prerequisites

Physical-mechanical and fracture properties of building materials, basic methods of testing and diagnosis of structures, resources for numerical analysis of structures, theory of statistics and probability.

Co-requisites

Design and assessment of steel structures, rheological properties of reinforced concrete structures, design and evaluation předpnutých reinforced concrete structures, basic approaches for evaluation of existing structures.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures consist of an explanation of basic principles with practical examples or case sample solution. Exercises have the character of laboratory demonstrations of possible methods of experimental analysis of structures with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Attendance to the exercise of the subject, writing laboratory reports, the successful processing of a test test test from the subject.

Cracking properties of cement composites. Experimental methods of determination of cracking properties.
Experimental load tests.
Methodology of long-term monitoring of bridge structures.
Methodology of experimental verification of reological properties of concrete in laboratory and in-situ.
Magneto-elastic measurement of stresses in prestressing reinforcement. Sensor calibration.
Experimental and analytic means of time dependent analysis of structures.
