Basics of Management And Metrology in the Construction Industry

Introduction, organization and completion of the course, EU and the Czech Republic legislation in terms of product responsibility, the accreditation system in the Czech Republic and EU regulatory basis of the accreditation process, the Ministry of Transport requirements for building materials, products and more.
Standards for management systems; Definition of basic concepts concerning management systems; General principles of management systems.
Selected standardized management systems.
Requirements for test laboratories - Systems and technical competence.
Statistical Methods in Civil Engineering, assurance of test results quality, the estimation of uncertainty in quantitative testing, proficiency testing programs.
Design of Experiments (DOE), assessment of production process capability, statistical control, statistical sampling and inspection and test plans.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
The course aims to acquaint students with:
- an overview of EU and the Czech Republic legislation in terms of product responsibility,
- basis of standardized management system,
- the requirements for testing laboratories in accordance with EN ISO/IEC 17025.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge about building testing methods, basic knowledge of description statistics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
To successfully obtain credit 80 % attendance must be met, 75 % of all assignments in the textbook completed.
To pass the exam student must correctly answer 10 questions of twenty test questions.

6. Requirements for test laboratories II. - Technical competence.

1. Documents MPA, EA, ILAC and IAF, the information available from Internet sources the ČIA and ÚNMZ, relevant legislation of Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic concerning roads.
2. Evaluation of the quality of concrete using non-destructive testing methods.
3. Evaluation of non-destructive testing of concrete in accordance with procedures in various ČSN-task.
4. ČSN product requirements for measuring and testing equipment.
5. Case studies and tasks with of a laboratory system theme.
6. Case studies and tasks with the theme of the technical competence of laboratories.
7.–8. An example of statistical software and work with it.
9.–10. Practical examples of statistical processing tasks using specialized software.
