Quality Management of Constructions

General principles and current approaches to the construction process. Tools for managing construction processes, controls and basic requirements for the quality of the implementation of partial construction processes and buildings. The principles and the importance of carrying out inspection of construction output. Fields and methods used in quality assurance of structures, control and evaluation of the quality of construction work in the processes shell construction and in the interior and finishing processes. The basic elements of quality management in a construction company.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student gains systematic and procedural approach for construction quality assurance, knowledge of basic rules for quality management during building implementation, ability to process basic documentation for quality management of individual construction processes (technological regulation, technological procedures, control test plans), basic knowledge of metrology and testing, ability of evaluation of compliance of materials and products, knowledge of basic requirements of quality of buildings and methods for their ensuring.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of construction technological processes and properties of building materials and products.

Co-requisites

Basics of statistics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures, practical classes and self-study assignments. Attendance at lectures is optional, but attendance at classes is compulsory.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Successful completion of the course requires the completion of practical classes with the granting of credit and passing both written and oral exam.
