Bachelor Seminar (K-GTN)

The seminar is aimed at preliminary work and completion of bachelor project.
Choice of basic geotechnical and structural parameters in relation to specific themes of bachelor project.
Requirements for the preparation of the thesis.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The objective of the subject is preliminary work on bachelor’s project. Student receives guidance to the bachelor thesis (ie. methods and approaches, citation rules, etc.). They will learn to analyze and present professional issues addressed in the thesis.


Types of foundation soils, properties of soils, limit states theory, foundation structures, underground structures, earth structures, basic principles of structural mechanics, theory of strength and elasticity, structure design of steel and concrete.


Risks at foundation of objects, risks at implementing of deep foundation pits shoring, new technologies of special foundation methods, environmental geotechnics, computational methods in geotechnical engineering.

Recommended optional programme components

Optionally, students can attend lectures, field trips and workshops that are offered to them during the semester.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The presented topic is practiced on project, which is focused to bachelor´s thesis and includes the parts individually discussed. Part of the exercise takes place in a classroom PC - application software for the solution of the problem. Part of the course is the presentation of the project.
Teaching includes optional lectures, field trips and workshops held currently in various projects.
Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies

Conditions of credit is to develope a complex bachelor´s project and satisfied attendance.
