Learning outcomes of the course unit
Student has a knowledge of basic design elements of underground structures and principle methods of design and checking of primary lining of underground structures. Student will be acquainted with geotechnical investigation, with influence of geology into the underground structures layout and with classification of rocks for underground structures. Further on with introduction into the theory of rocky pressures, with tunel systems for different profiles, explosive works, excavation of shafts. Student will be able to check deformations of suface. Excavated underground structures and microtunelling.
Prerequisites
Student must for success in the discipline know: Basic principles of geology, soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, geodesy, building materials, structural mechanics, elasticity and plasticity theory, basic principles of railway, road and water structures.
Co-requisites
Not required.
Recommended optional programme components
Optionally, students can attend lectures, field trips and workshops that are offered to them during the semester.
Recommended or required reading
Not applicable.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods are standard. Interpretation of the lectures are supplemented with practical examples in practice. The work also includes individual assignment - project.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
The credit must be met by participation in education and training programs from solved exercises.
The test evaluates two questions, with the addition of an assessment of the semester project.
Language of instruction
