Cartography II

The creation of thematic maps is the key content of the subject. ArcGIS for Desktop will be used as a software background. Within the subject key methods of thematic cartography will be presented.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will manage basic theoretical knowledge of cartographic creation of thematic map and production of maps. Using the digital technologies they will be able to make compilation manuscript.

Prerequisites

Cartographic terminology, optics, theory of color.

Co-requisites

Theory of cartographic interpretation and generalization, construction of cartographic signs, scientific visualization of images.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures with presentation, expanding presentation on Moodle LMS for repetition and self study, consultations, exercise programs with individual tasks, leadership of master's and bachelor's theses.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

For completing the course should be submitted digital and analog protocols and complete control test of the exercises and successfully pass an oral presentation of semester project.

Analogue and analytical methods of cartographic creation and production of cartographic works.

11-12 Time-spatial dynamics visualization.
