International Business Research Methods and Team Consultancy Project

f) Research presentation - presenting and defending the assignment on the selected topic.
g) Creating a consulting team, learning a company's specific task and meeting company staff.
h) Actual analytical activity within the company (obtaining information and gaining knowledge in the selected area)
i) Bringing up specific scenarios proposing approach to the assigned project, consulting the tutor, selection of the most suitable approach scenarios
j) Producing the so-called Final Report on the specific consulting project, which will be presented to company management
k) Public presentation of the specific results of team consultation and subsequent discussion with the company management, the tutor, the module students and the module leader, and if appropriate, a modification of the written output from the team consultation in the company.

e) Select a data selection method for primary research.
f) Present and defend results of their research.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of the course is conditional on the knowledge of macroeconomics, microeconomics, finance, strategic management, and statistics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course contains lectures that explain basic principles, problems and methodology of the discipline, and exercises that promote the practical knowledge of the subject presented in the lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course participants will need to defend their teamwork (max 60 points) on selected topic presenting stage of their research at their meeting. Teamwork (60 points), will be rated: project 40 points, presentation 15 points, discussion 5 points. The evaluation criteria for the team project are:
- standard of team’s final report (design, contain),
- presentation of project results (ability to defence the team’s opinions),
- quality of answers in the discussion part after presentation.
To obtain a course-unit credit, you need 40 points. Evaluation ot team work is given by the committee.
The final exam (40 points) will be closed book and consists only of a written part containing 4 open questions. Each question is rated max. 10 points. To successfully finish the subject, the student must receive a minimum of 20 points: the resulting record is then determined according to the scale:
A 36-40 points
B 31-35 points
C 26-30 points
D 20-25 points
F less than 20 points

1. Research in business – scientific thinking, research process, proposing research.
2. Scheduling research, pitfalls and critical spots of research.
3. State of scientific knowledge, state of the outer environment and situation of the company.
4. Sources and collection of data in secondary research.
5. Methods of data collection in primary research.
6. Research processing.
7. Research presentation – presenting and defending the research results.
8. Creating a consulting team, learning a company's specific task and meeting company staff.
9. Actual analytical activity within the company (obtaining information and gaining knowledge in the selected area).
10. Actual analytical activity within the company.
11. Bringing up specific scenarios proposing approach to the assigned project, consulting the tutor, selection of the most suitable approach scenarios.
12. Producing the so-called Final Report on the specific consulting project, this will be presented to company management.
13. Public presentation of the specific results of team consultation and subsequent discussion with the company management, the tutor, the module students and the module leader, and if appropriate, a modification of the written output from the team consultation in the company.

Aims

The aim of the course is to give students an overview of basic methods of research. The secondary aim is to teach students to work in teams during empirical surveys in specific businesses.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at lectures is required as well as studying of basic literature. Control is in teacher’s competence.

Syllabus

The exercises will be based on the solution of selected case studies from literature Sauders and all. Research Methods for Business Students. Case studies will be selected by the lecturer for individual parts of the research process.
