An English course at intermediate level designed to meet the practical language requirements of students who need to communicate in English at work in the area of management and information technology.
Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will acquire the basic terminology and language skills necessary for communication in various situations in business and management, especially regarding company organization , production process, trading, presentations and financial matters. They will be made familiar with the terminology necessary for work in IT and with professional IT materials.
Knowledge of English at intermediale level.

Exercises promote the practical mastery of the subject presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

75% course attendance is required.

1) Unit 6 – Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect. Noun formation.
2) Unit 6 – Making presentations 2: structuring a talk. Describing problems and finding solutions. Technical text.
3) Unit 7 – Zero, First and Second Conditional. Money and finance. Technical text.
4) Unit 7 – Writing emails 2: job applications. Discussing and reaching agreement.
5) Unit 8 –Passives: Present Simple, Present Continuous, Present Perfect Simple, Past Simple, will. Product journey. Technical text.
6) Unit 8 – Time management. Checking understanding and clarifying.
7) Revision. Technical text.
8) Unit 9 – Relative clauses. Describing personal qualities at work.
9) Unit 9 – Job interviews. Changing plans. Technical text.
10) Unit 10 – Third Conditional; should/shouldn’t have. Changing careers; -ing vs infinitive.
11) Unit 10 – Teleconferencing and videoconferencing. Technical text.
12) Revision. Technical text.
13) Credit test.
Development of all language skills, consolidation and deepening of knowledge of grammatical structures, and increase in vocabulary with special emphasis on language needed at work in the area of management and IT, knowledge of general English at CEF B1 level.

The content and forms of instruction in the evaluated course are specified by a regulation issued by the lecturer responsible for the course and updated for every academic year.
