The objective of the course is to verify student’s theoretical knowledge acquired in the basic courses of his/her major in the form of a placement in industrial and administrative organizations. Obtained knowledge and information are base for processing bachalor thesis.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student is given possibilities to apply the theoretical knowledge to specific tasks under industrial conditions. Student will be made familiar with particular problems that may be chosen as objectives of bachelor thesis.

Prerequisites

The course is a follow-up o all completed courses related to the economic areas, technical disciplines; informatics and production management.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Professional practice serves to deepen the knowledge and skills acquired through study and verification their application in practice also serves to update knowledge and familiarity with the methods of work especially in institutions outside the university,

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The graded course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having submitted written reports in size of 18 000 chains according to assignment, presented and defended them answering teacher’s questions.

Course curriculum

Students will be made familiar with practical approaches of managerial decision making in manufacturing conditions of entrepreneurial area. The objective of the course is to verify student’s theoretical knowledge acquired in the basic courses of his/her major in operation management. They acquire new skills necessary. Practice will be focused on student’s introduction to entrepreneurialship in manufacturing company, products category and market condition – supply and demand. The objective of the course is evaluation of business of manufacturing firm from the management of production process; production factors and selected ecological aspects of business.
Student will assemble written report, which will contain organization chart of selected organization. Student will describe information system of firm and used information technology. Student will analyse strengths and weaknesses firm with regard to entrepreneurship, consider possibilities and opportunities and their interactions on economic result of business and reaching sustainable development. Student will describe operational problems – i. e. what kind of problem does the firm have in daily operations most frequently in real time. Beside is necessary to include into written report possible future orientation of his/her bachelor thesis.

Student is given possibilities to apply the theoretical knowledge to specific tasks under industrial conditions. Student will be made familiar with particular problems that may be chosen as objectives of bachelor thesis.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Students will be given individual assignments, which state the name of organization, responsible person in the organization, and the contact to this person. Student’s placement in the organization may be inspected by the tutors who can contact the responsible person. Student may set a different term of placement by the agreement with the tutor.

Syllabus

Describe organization structure in the selected manufacturing firm (organization), eventually describe interaction between each manufacturing departments.
Describe the information system of the firm and its modules.
From databases point of view describe and analyse information flows i. e. users; groups of users with the relation on responsibility and justification for creation data records of production documents.
Evaluate information technologies used in the firm (hardware, software, data files, information connection, data protection etc.)
With the regard to products range:
- Analyse strengths and weakness firm;
- Consider possibilities, opportunities and threatens in firms surroundings.
Analyse production process – production typology and forms.
Evaluate constitution methods of production plans; sequencing and supervisory control
What king of problem does the firm have in daily operations the most frequently ?
Describe in detail your daily working activities in the firm.
Specify the objective of your bachelor thesis.
List at lest 10 information resources related to the topic of your bachelor thesis.
