Production of Electrical Machines

FEKT-MSESAcad. year: 2018/2019

Students will learn the basic techniques of various electrical machines and equipment with the main types and use of electrical machinery and equipment in industrial practice.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

- Describe the basic structure of electromechanical systems
- Implement the choice of the optimal size of the cover, cooling and ventilation system at el. machinery and equipment,
- Define the basic requirements for the calculation of el. machinery and equipment,
- Perform basic calculations of electrical. machinery and equipment according to the recommended instructions, procedures,
- To design a magnetic circuit with PM,
- Properly select materials and tolerance for each of the el. machinery and equipment,
- Assess the basic errors, deficiencies and prerequisites for trouble-free operation el. machinery and equipment.

Prerequisites

- Explain the principle of operation of machines, - Control mathematical operations with complex numbers, - Apply basic knowledge of materials engineering, - Apply basic knowledge of creating technical documentation and mechanics, - Apply basic laws of electromagnetism.

Course curriculum

Lectures
First Basic functions, use, operation, and working conditions of electrical machines.
Second Material and energy inputs used in the design of electrical machines, patent search.
Third Unconventional methods used in the diagnosis and design of electrical machines and equipment.
4th How to design a three-phase transformer.
5th Design phase asynchronous motor general use.
6th Design of DC machines with classical excitation.
7th Procedure for designing a synchronous machine.
8th Proposal for a general system and electric machines with permanent magnets.
9th Design of special electrical machines and innovation of electric machines.
10th Windings of electric machines, cooling and ventilation, electrical machinery and equipment.
11th The issue of commutation of electrical machines with a commutator.
12th The issue of sliding contact with electrical machines with rings.
13th The use of modern numerical methods and genetic algorithms in the design of electrical machines and equipment.

Laboratory exercises:
- Familiarization with different designs of electric machines and their working conditions.
- Presentation and demonstration of available materials used in electrical machines.
- Design and verification of system parameters with permanent magnets.
- Design and implementation of a simple model for winding electric machine.
- Measurement of the specified fan electric machine.
- Measurement of the commutation and assessing its quality.
- Assessment of selected parameters of the sliding contact.
- Examples of innovative diagnostic and scientific methods.
- Excursions to selected plant in the Czech Republic.

Exercise training base:

- Draft of selected parts of the transformer.
- Individually design phase asynchronous motor.
- Addressing individual proposals DC machines.
- Draft excitation circuit of synchronous machines.
